Travel
Travel from SFO to Heathrow was uneventful and fairly comfortable. I slept for a good chunk of the way. Customs at Heathrow were amazingly seamless. All done via an electronic kiosk. The only issue with Heathrow is that you have to hike to France to go through customs. It's a long walk.
Nick the taxi driver picked me up and drove me to Thornbury. The weather was cooler than Oregon, but not cold. Lots of rain and storms though. Wish I'd taken some pictures of it. Interesting conversations with Nick about the Welsh language and the still touchy subject of Northern Ireland. Napped a bit on the drive over.
On arrival at Ian and Emma's place we nearly immediately sat down for a meal (I needed it) and dove into some fairly meaty conversation topics. This lasted until I ran out of gas and needed to sleep some more. The rest of the evening was waking up for occasional snippets of conversation and going back for more sleep. I'm hoping jet lag doesn't last too long.
