UK Day 2 - Wales and the Forest of Dean

Still jet lagging, but got out a bit earlier in the day and saw some interesting sights.

Travel

Drove across the Severn to Lydney Harbor and took a nice walk along the channel. Lots of interesting sculptures there among other sights.  This was followed by finding a park bench in St. Briavels for some coffee and a snack.  We then went to Symonds Yat for a beautiful view of the River Wye far below.  Ended the outing with a drive home via many back roads through the countryside.  Here are a few pictures.

The harbor at Lydney.

One of the sculptures at the Lydney Harbor.  If you look closely, you'll see the word "West" on the rocks.  The view is to the west.  Each direction was labeled similarly.

Context

Queen Elizabeth II died yesterday in Scotland. Some indications of that here. Flags flying at half mast for example. Nearly as much or more conversation about the new prime minister though.

Thinking

I watched the documentary "Before the Flood" on the flight over and read the paper "Freeing Sisyphus: new rules of thumb for policymaking on decarbonisation" after I got here.  A lot of thinking about the issue of climate change.
