UK Day 23 - Return to Thornbury

(2022.09.30, Friday) Left Penzance and returned to Thornbury today.  Cornwall was wonderful to visit.  I would definitely visit again.

Flower of the day.

CrossCountry from Penzance to Edinburg.

Funny story here.  This was not the train I departed Penzance on.  I had ridden this train a couple of days earlier when I went to St. Ives, so I knew that it stopped at Bristol Parkway (today's destination).  For whatever reason, the train app offered me a "combo" ticket on a different route where I had to change trains in Plymouth.  I got on that train and, again the mysteries of train management, that train only had five cars rather than the nine cars it was supposed to have.  Unfortunately, there were nine cars worth of passengers that had booked a ticket on that train.  By the time we got to Plymouth, it was standing-room only.  At Plymouth, I got out of the overcrowded train, walked across the platform, and boarded the train you see above for the rest of my journey.  Seemed like a classic example of "why should anything be easy when it can be hard".  It was a fine and uneventful trip otherwise.

  1. That’s funny. What an incredible trip. Thank you for being willing to share I’ll never see but wished I could.
