UK Day 25 - Sunday Roast and The Cotswalds

(2022.10.02, Sunday) On Sunday we went to a pub for a traditional Sunday roast. I'm glad it worked out. I was afraid I might not get a chance.  After that, we wandered toward the Cotswolds.  There wasn't much of a plan and we weren't in much of a hurry.  It was great that along the way we found an interesting place that Ian and Emma had never been to before.

Sunday roast at the Swan Inn.  I chose the lamb shank.

Did I mention how much the Brits like their dogs?  They really like their dogs!

St. Mary's Church is a Norman (in some ways pre-Norman) church in Beverston.  It was next to the castle.

Beverston is listed in the Doomesday Book. A remarkable survey performed in the 11th century.

Spent some time browsing antique stores in Tetbury.  This is the very old market in the town square. Lots of interesting architecture there from several different periods.

A lane in Upper Slaughter.

The old mill in Lower Slaughter.

We stopped in Cirencester on the way back to see if there is anything interesting there.  Cirencester was the second-largest city in Roman times.  We were mostly disappointed.  Particularly disappointing were the signs to the Roman Forum, which is now a parking lot. The above is the Roman amphitheater.

The Cotswold Airport seems to be the place to store retired jets.  There is a large collection there from several different sources.

Moon over an old 747 at the Cotswold Airport.

Sunset on the way home.
